Volunteer at the Livingston Songwriter Festival

Meet new people, forge new friendships, and support music in our community by joining the Livingston Songwriter Festival team as a volunteer. A wide range of volunteer opportunities are available.

We are looking for smiling faces who can go with the flow in an ever-changing environment, take on any assignment—no matter the size—and whose middle name is “Dependable.” If this sounds like you, we would love to have you as a volunteer for the Inaugural Livingston Songwriters Festival, October 1 & 3, 2026.

Our corps of volunteers work to support our fans, staff, sponsors, and songwriters to ensure everyone at the event has an exciting, fun, memorable, and safe experience. You could be doing anything from helping set up the many festival sites, staffing the box office, selling tickets, staffing doors at our venues, checking and selling wristbands, and/or selling merchandise.  

You will be rewarded with a Legends & Headliners All Access Pass, that allows you access to all seven venues throughout the weekend when not volunteering (subject to venue capacity, as with all pass-holders), for six hour (2-shifts) or more worked over the three days of the festival,  or a one day Festival wristband for a shift of 3 hours or less on the day you worked, October 1 & 3, 2026.

You’ll be an integral part of the event’s success. As a 501 c(3) organization, our mission is to #1) promote songwriting and songwriters, #2) Bring incremental tourism business to our host communities and #3) Promote music education in public schools and colleges.  In the past seven years we have contributed over $185,000 to fulfill that mission.

Box Office Host

The Box Office is the command center for our festivals. Ticketing, songwriter check-in, merchandise sales, volunteer check-in and providing information is conducted at the box office. The Box Office is open from 12pm – 6pm on Thursday, 12pm – 5pm on Friday and 12pm – 4pm on Saturday.

Your primary responsibility is to ensure a great initial experience for our fans.

• Check fans in to the festival  and provide them with the proper passes or wristbands utilizing Event Groove

• Sell tickets 

• Sell merchandise 

Communications

• Communicate with the Box Office Coordinator, Susan Sewell,  and festival organizers about what’s going on and any important feedback from fans, songwriters and/or volunteers.

Be available during the festival. At any given time you may be asked to:

We need a host of people to help with support during the event. We will assign duties based on abilities and availability.

These duties include:

• Assisting the Volunteer Coordinator

• Checking in and directing volunteers

Shifts are in 3 hour blocks.

Venue Host

Your primary responsibility is to ensure a great listening room experience for the fans, songwriters and staff.

●      Have fun and help set the tone for a fantastic festival!

●      Welcome the songwriters!

●      Welcome fans and ensure they have proper credentials, lanyard or wristband.

●      Ensuring those that are supposed to be in an area feel welcome and those that are not are politely asked to leave.

●      Direct fans to the box office if they need to pick-up their credentials or want to buy tickets.

●      Be sure no garbage is laying around.

●      Assure no alcohol leaves the venues.

During the show your responsibilities are to watch the doors, checking for passes as fans arrive as well as being mindful of venue capacity. Each venue has paid a fee to participate in the festival so it is important servers are able to serve our fans, they are welcome to serve our fans while at the same time be respectful of the listening room environment. Shifts are in 3 hour blocks.

Set-Up & Logistics

Do you have time to set-up chairs, run errands, set stages, move sound equipment and/or anything else that need to be done during the festival. We need self-motivated people to help.
